STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

Hear it From the Dancers

You are one of the most important reasons for my improvement. I particularly valued you teaching me not to be frustrated by a failed move, but to troubleshoot it instead. That is applicable in all of life, not just in piqué turns. You are awesome! Thank you so much!

Randolph Peters

It is very enjoyable to have (Skype) classes with Rebecca, she is a very good teacher. She gives just the right amount of information, and doesn’t throw too much information at you so it is easier to assimilate. She is so nice.

Nadia Funch

Rebecca is a true professional on the dance floor. She has a strength that draws out the best in a person. You definitely will be challenged by her, and her smile and encouragement will give you confidence.

FAQ

DO I NEED TO SIGN UP WITH A PARTNER?

No, you do not need to sign up with a partner. We rotate partners often in the classroom, so that each person can experience what it is like to dance with many partners. This is a great way to build our community and also to learn the skills necessary to dance with a variety of partners with varying skill levels.

WHAT GEAR OR EQUIPMENT WILL I NEED FOR CLASS?

You will need comfortable shoes with a non-stick sole. This is so you can pivot  turn with out sticking to the floor. Leather-soled or suede-soled shoes work well, and some rubber shoes with slick soles can work also. DanceSocks are available for purchase at class, and are an inexpensive, reusable slip-on cover that can convert rubber-soled shoes for use in dancing.

CAN I DROP IN FOR INTRO TO WEST COAST SWING WITHOUT SIGNING UP FOR THE ENTIRE SERIES?

Yes and No.

Yes a potential student may drop in weeks one and two of Intro to West Coast Swing only, which is a good way to check out the atmosphere and the material before committing to the entire series. After that, we do not allow drop-ins for a couple of reasons. First, because the Intro to West Coast Swing series is taught a little differently than other West Coast Swing classes, and because the material from each week builds on the material from the previous weeks, it is not practical for students to drop in on later weeks without having been through the previous material. Second, we want to encourage trust and authenticity among our dancers, which is strengthened by the bond of sharing the space together consistently. If we allowed drop-ins this would disrupt the dynamic.

*The cost to drop in to week one or two of Intro to WCS is $20 per night.

CAN I TAKE CONTINUING EDUCATION IN WEST COAST SWING WITHOUT TAKING INTRO TO WEST COAST SWING? I ALREADY HAVE DANCE EXPERIENCE.

That is so great that you have had lessons in WCS before. We applaud you for wanting to continue your journey. At Dance With Intention we want all of our students to have the same method of techniques and use the same vocabulary in class. The best way to achieve that is for all students to have come through the entire curriculum in Intro to West Coast Swing. In order for a student to be eligible to take Continuing Education, they must complete Intro to West Coast Swing and have proficiant ability at dancing the fundamentals.

I SIGNED UP BUT NOW MY SCHEDULE HAS CHANGED AND I CAN’T TAKE CLASS THIS SESSION, CAN I RESCHEDULE? CAN I GET A REFUND?

We know Life Happens! If you need to change your schedule, we understand. If you have not attended more than two weeks of an eight-week series, you may switch to the next series, up to one time. If you would prefer, you can also receive the prorated value of your payment as a discount toward a private lesson. For example, if you paid $169 for an eight-week series, and attended two lessons but then needed to switch to private lessons instead, you would receive $126.75 credit toward the purchase of private lessons (6/8 * $169).

CAN I SIT AND OBSERVE A CLASS TO GET THE FEEL FOR IT BEFORE SIGNING UP?

Our classrooms are private, to encourage trust and authenticity among the students, so they can be as open and vulnerable with each other as much as possible. In order for our students to feel safe to be themselves and to open up, the space is only for students who have invested in themselves and their peers for the six-week series. If you’d like to understand better what the classroom feels like, we suggest that you read the comments our students have left for us, or ask us to get you in contact with a student who is willing to share their experience with you. Or, take a chance and dive in to our Intro to West Coast Swing classes!
